Between 25 May and 6 June 2026, the Executive Director of Girl Child Rights (GCR) carried out a monitoring mission to the provinces of Manica, Nampula and Cabo Delgado. In Manica, she was accompanied by the Development Coordinator, the Finance Manager and the Project Manager. In Nampula and Cabo Delgado, the Humanitarian Coordinator and the Finance Assistant joined the mission.

From the Centre to the North

The mission began in the Centre region, with visits to the districts of Mossurize and Tambara, in the communities of Espungabera and Sabeta. In the North, the team went on to Meconta, in Nampula province, and to Gingone, in Cabo Delgado. At each location, it followed the implementation of activities and the work of the teams in the field.

Five projects visited

Initiatives from five projects were visited: Tolerância Zero, Mulheres, Paz e Segurança, She Leads Peace, SKILLZ Girl and Literacia Digital. The visits made it possible to hear from the beneficiaries, identify challenges and observe the results achieved.

In Meconta, the Executive Director met with economic empowerment groups, whose participants expressed their determination to continue generating income and opportunities for their families. The participants thanked her for the visit and asked for these meetings to be repeated.

Coordination with partners in Cabo Delgado

In Cabo Delgado, the mission also included meetings with technical teams, trainers and strategic partners, among them UN Women, UNFPA and AVSI. These meetings served to strengthen coordination.

A new vehicle for Pemba

One of the central moments of the mission was the handover of a new vehicle to the Pemba office. The vehicle will improve the teams’ mobility and make it easier to support the most remote communities.
