Senior Coordinator, MLHCP – Northern Region
MLHCP, hosted by GCR, is looking for a Senior Coordinator based in Pemba to lead humanitarian coordination and support to local organisations in Cabo Delgado and the northern provinces. 12-month contract (January to December 2027).
About the position
| Department | MLHCP Secretariat |
| Workstation | Pemba, Cabo Delgado |
| Line manager | MLHCP National Convener |
| Project | Strengthening Locally Led Humanitarian Action |
| Level of effort | 100% MLHCP (hosted by GCR) |
| Duration | 12 months, from January to December 2027 |
The Mozambique Local Humanitarian Coordination Platform (MLHCP) is a national coordination and representation platform bringing together more than 160 local and national organisations. The Platform does not implement projects. Its functions are coordination, information sharing, capacity strengthening, facilitating access to funding, and advocacy, so that local actors play a stronger role in humanitarian coordination structures and response in Mozambique.
Under the project Strengthening Locally Led Humanitarian Action in Mozambique, implemented jointly by MLHCP, FAST-M (Federação de Assistência Social Transformadora de Moçambique) and Save the Children, MLHCP will strengthen its presence in the north. The Senior Coordinator, based in Pemba, will lead MLHCP’s work in Cabo Delgado and the northern provinces, ensuring that local and national organisations take part meaningfully in humanitarian coordination and response mechanisms.
The contract will be issued by GCR, as host of the MLHCP Secretariat, and is expected to transfer to MLHCP once MLHCP is registered as an independent entity. GCR hosts the MLHCP Secretariat until MLHCP completes its legal registration as an independent national association.

- Proven experience working with local and national organisations, networks or platforms, and ability to build consensus among diverse actors.
- Experience in budget management and donor reporting; knowledge of due diligence processes is an advantage.
- Excellent spoken and written Portuguese and English; knowledge of a northern local language (Emakhuwa, Kimwani or Shimakonde) is an advantage.
